Rüdesheim landmark is now treasury for Rhine wines
The historic and heritage-protected building of the former Asbach Uralt distillery form the framework of one of the most exciting projects of the German wine landscape: Vinothek RheinWeinWelt Rüdesheim. Here the “spirit” of the wine lives on with the river Rhine being the powerful all-embracing and connecting element.
Creating new while keeping the old was the motto of the concept. Renovation steps were undertaken in a gentle, sensitive way, preserving typological and material characteristics without forgoing modern comfort. The original character of the room size, accessible concrete wine tanks was maintained. They constitute the heart of the vinothek. Their original historic glittering glass tiles on the walls and the signs and marks of a century of brandy production give the visitor a unique backdrop for wine tasting. Wines are presented in wines dispensers and are tasted by the visitors by their own.
Spread out over more than 1000 square meters, a whole new dimension in wine diversity is on offer: a selection of 76 wine makers from the UNESCO world cultural heritage Middle Rhine and Rheingau, Rheinhessen and Mosel. Be it the “young wild”, ambitious shooting stars or established wine estates: all of them shoot the RheinWeinWelt top the pinnacle of regional wine and event hospitality.
A modern cuisine with a deli shop invites to linger. A lovingly selected variety of products around the wine theme are on sale, as well as home-made tarts and cakes. Regional specialities like cheeses or meats complement the range.
