CASTLE WINE FROM INGELHEIM

Schloss Westerhaus, a castle from the 16th and 17th century royally resides over the emperor´s town of Ingelheim. Privately owned and renovated, it houses the wine estate in the fourth generation and is run by Count and Countess Johannes von Schönburg. Quality endeavour is the highest aim.

The wine estate is a member of the Association of German Predicate Wine Estates (VDP) and is regarded as a top Pinot Noir producer. Two-thirds of the area under cultivation is Pinot Noir, one-third Riesling. The vines grow on skeletonized limestone and are situated almost exclusively on VDP-classified cru sites.

Schloss Westerhaus with its monopole site sloping at the foot of the castle reminds of an elegant Burgundy wine estate. A unique place to visit!
